about the author

a poet, author of fantasy tales for adults and children and book reviewer working for literary magazines.

Member of Association of Polish Writers (SPP www.sppwarszawa.pl), Polish PEN Club www.penclub.com.pl, and Polish IBBY Section www.ibby.pl. Scholar of Children’s Library in Munich (Germany,1996) and Baltic Centre for Writers and Translators in Visby (Sweden, 2003), she was, among others, an editor of literature critic magazine "Nowe Książki" ("New Books").

In 2013 honoured by Medal of Polish IBBY Section for the children' writing.

Her poetry has been published in many literary reviews for children and adults, anthologies and school textbooks ; some of them translated into foreign languages (among others: English, German, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Serbo-Croatian, Spanish, Uzbek). She took part in poetry festivals in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (1998), Struga, Macedonia (2002, 2003), Havana, Cuba (2007), Calicut, India (2007). Granada, Nicaragua (2009), and Paris, France (2009). She represented Poland in International Writers Encounter and 6th Story Telling Marathon in Quito (Ecuador, 2011), and in International Festival of Childrens' Books in Sofia, Bulgaria (2012).

Her most important adults poetry collections are : Window in a Tree (1992) ; I Live Singing (1996) ; Magic Places (2003) ; Island of Lights (2004) ; Los sitios mágicos (Havana, 2010).

Short stories collection : Dreams of Love and Death (2012).

Among children books Tea Cat (1999) was the Book of the Year (Polish IBBY Section) and was granted a honourable mention in the Child’s World Foundation Bestseller competition 1999 ;

Tales of Things and and Non-things (2002) – the Book of the Year and was granted a honourable mention of the Bestseller of the Year ;
